We are very pleased to announce that the latest waste management site within the Stericycle estate has now opened. The Waste Transfer site at Park Royal in West London employs 40 staff and is 18,500 square feet in size. It replaces a previous Stericycle site in nearby Hillingdon which is currently undergoing repair works.
The Park Royal plant is fully equipped to handle as much as 24 tonnes of clinical waste per day and has a maximum storage capacity of 49 tonnes.
As the NHS and social care sectors are still producing record levels of clinical waste and PPE waste as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccines rollout, the new plant is a welcome addition to our network of 19 clinical waste management sites across the UK.
Park Royal which is already operational will be handling waste from across greater London. The site will also manage clinical waste from as far afield as Buckinghamshire Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Sussex, and Surrey.
The processes undertaken at the Park Royal site include:
Waste reception and storage
Waste rejection and quarantine
Cart washing
Waste transfer
Loose waste handling
Waste may be delivered to the transfer station facilities by Stericycle collection vehicles or third-party collection vehicles where the third-party organisation has an account with us. In accordance with standard procedures for waste processing, all waste received at Park Royal must be accompanied by a hazardous waste consignment note or waste transfer note.
Park Royal Service Manager Mike Marsh said:
“It is great to see the new Park Royal Waste Transfer Site open and fully operational and now able to handle up to 24 tonnes of clinical waste each day. I am proud of the team who work on the site and very glad Stericycle has been able to invest in the latest new facility to support the NHS and other healthcare customers across the UK.”
