Tonnes of plastic diverted from landfills
As an industry leader, Stericycle understands the importance of compliantly managing the collection, transportation, treatment, and appropriate disposal of various types of dental waste as required by regulations in your area. These are just an example of some of the waste types we collect from dental practices:
We offer various collection types for sharps waste, including non-hazardous material, medicinally contaminated or cytotoxic substances.
Used in most dental casts, gypsum has a high sulphate content and must be disposed of compliantly. We offer a range of sealed containers for you to store all types of gypsum waste.
Tiger bags are for offensive, non-infectious waste or soft items contaminated with offensive clinical waste. Orange bags are for infectious/potentially infectious soft clinical waste contaminated with blood/bodily fluids.
Our containers allow the secure storage of amalgam waste, a type of dental filling material that contains mercury. We ensure this hazardous waste is disposed of compliantly.
‘We’re passionate about providing top quality dental care for our patients and working with a partner who can offer a similar high level of service across our practice network. We couldn’t be more pleased with the sustainable and cost effective solutions that Stericycle is providing us - and helping us continue to meet strict industry compliance.’

Stericycle provides a diverse selection of sharps bins and containers, including yellow, orange, and purple options, ranging from 0.5 litres to 22 litres in size. Made from recycled materials.
Gypsum in dental moulds has a high sulphate content. Combining high sulphate content waste with biodegradable waste produces highly toxic and odorous hydrogen sulphide gas. Because of this, gypsum is banned from normal landfill. Infectious gypsum waste must be incinerated.
Non-infectious waste can be consigned for incineration or recovery.
The lead foils contained within dental x-ray film packets can be toxic and must be securely disposed of. Our lead waste container provides a safe and compliant solution for the disposal of lead wastes.
Stericycle can provide durable, color-coded clinical waste bags designed for the safe and compliant disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials; Tiger, Orange, Yellow & Black. Made from recycled materials.
X-ray dental fixer is a hazardous waste because of its high silver content. X-ray dental developer is less hazardous but it cannot be mixed with fixer solution. Our x-ray chemical containers provides a safe and compliant solution for disposing of these liquids.
